The Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) recently held its first public hearing on plans to build a 20-kilometre bridge linking the mainland to Koh Samui, with construction expected to begin in 2028.
The project would connect Koh Samui with either Dong Sa district in Surat Thani or Kanong district in Lamphun.
The hearing focused on assessing the suitability of the project in a number of aspects, including engineering, financial impacts and environmental impacts.
